Lockdown

Lockdown is a young adult night hosted four times a year to allow young adults a chance to unwind in a safe environment. We organize computer and video games, movies, music and other games. It is usually held at Hercules Road State School Hall, Rothwell, Queensland Australia, once per term. The doors open at 5pm, and close at 1pm of the following day, making Lockdown a twenty hour event.

Youth group games run from 5pm to 9pm. Dinner orders are taken at 9:30pm, and video game tournaments begin afterwards. It is in no way required to attend for the entire event, though recommended. You will not however be allowed to leave the hall and come back later on. It is also required that all equipment is out of the venue by 1pm of the following day, in the interest of the next patrons.

We do occasionally film certain sections of Lockdown for a promo video.

Code of Conduct

  • No one, other than leaders, may touch or use the property of any other person without their prior permission. Leaders reserve the right to move or use property if it is required.
  • No one, other than leaders, may leave the hall at anytime. If you choose to leave contrary to this rule and without good reason you may not be allowed back in.
  • Ratings of content will vary anywhere up to an M15+ rating. Do not bring any material which is offensive or illegal. Adult content is especially not allowed, and will have consequences.
  • No swearing, crude or illicit language, spoken or typed, will be tolerated.
  • No drugs or alcohol are allowed at any point before or during the night.
  • The leaders reserve the right to ask unruly people to leave.
  • The leaders reserve the right to deny use of any piece of equipment to a person in the interest of the owner of that piece of equipment.
  • We trust our leaders. They are exceptional people who will not be mean or pick on anyone. They will do all things in fairness, and we ask that you respect them for dedicating their weekend to helping supervise youth.

Notice

  • Have all equipment (controllers, consoles, games etc) clearly marked with your name
  • Have all equipment taken from the hall by 12 noon on the following day.
  • Consent to the authority of the leader supervising the console section.
  • Express your wishes regarding your equipment to the leader supervising the console section on the night (eg: no one to change discs except for leaders, people must use straps when using the Wii, don't put the console near something that will heat it up etc.)

Computer Requirements

If you are bringing a computer to Lockdown (highly reccomended) you must have all of the following:

  • A Local Area Network (LAN) cable, minimum 5m
  • An extension lead, minimum of 2m
  • A powerboard
  • Headphones, and not speakers
  • Run an anti-virus update and full system scan prior to arriving.
  • An appropriate wallpaper

Remember that Lockdown is about unwinding. If a person feels uncomfortable or awkward then they are unable to unwind. If you feel you need to talk to at any point, feel free to ask a leader for help. And have fun, which is what we all want.
